About Us

The Spanish Water Dog Association of America was incorporated on June 11. 2001.  It is the oldest and largest Spanish Water Dog Club in the United States. It is the only Club in the United States that is affiliated with the United Kennel Club.  The goals of the Association are to educate the public about the unique qualities of the Spanish Water Dog, to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of pure-bred Spanish Water Dogs and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection;    to encourage the organization of independent local specialty clubs in those localities where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of the United Kennel Club;  to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the United Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Spanish Water Dogs should be judged;  to do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and approved trials; to conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows and approved trials under the rules and regulations of the United Kennel Club.
